The History of Tri Delta
In 1888, at Boston University, Sarah Ida Shaw felt there was a need for a women's group that was different from the rest. "Let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl's inner self and character than her personal appearance," Sarah said to her friend, Eleanor Dorcas Pond and the two set to work creating a new national Fraternity. On Thanksgiving Eve, Tri Delta was officially founded! Never before had a sorority been founded so completely and with such depth of meaning from the very beginning.
The History of Our Chapter
Epsilon Iota was founded at Allegheny in 2008 when Delta Delta Delta was selected as the fifth sorority to join the College's campus. In the short period of time since, we have grown to be one of the largest sororities on Allegheny's campus! In Spring 2012, Epsilon Iota was granted Established Chapter Status thanks to the hard work of countless individuals (to find out more about that, click the link below). We've already started to build traditions and a rich history at Allegheny while we also look forward to the future of our chapter.
